A netlabel, also called online label, web label or mp3 label, distributes its music in digital audio formats (mainly MP3 or Ogg: a patent-free, fully open multimedia bitstream container format) online.
Netlabels often work like traditional record labels to produce and promote music projects (such as albums or compilations). Most employ guerrilla marketing to promote their work. Few netlabels earn money for participants. No need to make a "show-bussines" of music anymore (if wanted/needed...)! Sometimes, if not always, culture should be built on sharing and respect.

The primary difference between netlabels and record labels is that netlabels emphasize free downloads, as opposed to physical publishing (CD, vinyl or DVD). Often, the music is released under licenses that encourage sharing, such as the "copyleft". Artists typically retain the copyright.

Our favorite net-label is called "DESETXEA", a proyect runned by Mattin (artist from the city of Bilbao, living in London) that seems not to need to see coherence exceed. All the sound-files are strictly anti-copyright, encouraging the listener/downloader to "do whatever the fuck you want with this files"!
